One fine day last Spring I left the gallery and wandered down State St. in Los Altos. Farmer's Market was in full swing. Families were purchasing flowers, fresh organic fruit and fresh vegetables for the week. The sun was bright and joy was in the air. I wanted to capture that moment.
The desire to capture that special something that captivates and holds your attention is the first step in the fine art studio practice. What is that special something that sets your heart on fire? What is that fleeting glimpse that tugs at your senses and won't depart ? Imagine that! Sketch that moment. Take lots of photo reference of that moment. Contemplate that moment. Sketch some more. Explore and enjoy that moment. Taste it, feel it and let the energy of that moment wash over you. Now you are ready to paint.
