Rocky Shore, Asilomar

Rocky Shore, Asilomar was painted over multiple trips to the coast. I started with a series of ink sketches. Once my composition was to my liking I returned at a later date to begin the painting. My interest in this small plein air painting was to capture the sun as it sets, the light on the horizon blends into the sea and the bright light behind the rocks glow.  As a painting develops the goal of the artist is to capture the sights, smells and sounds of the moment. 

Painting along the Montery Coastline is always a delightful challenge.
